Lower School & All School Meeting

Every Wednesday, all students in the Lower school, including many familiar faces in the TCS community, join for a meeting led by the Fourth Grade students. After the Fourth Grade announcers welcome everyone, we are lead in song by Mrs. Wepler playing the guitar. Then one of the Radio Show hosts takes a microphone and walks to each grade level where one person announces important news from their grade. At our first meeting in October, as a group we announced, “PreSchool is Cool!”

Just like morning meetings, which happen daily in our PreSchool classroom, these Lower School and All School meetings allow our students, teachers and families to build a sense of community. The Students are made to feel valued, safe, and nurtured. These times together as a school community truly paint a picture of who we are and where we are heading together! TCS is a very special place….

We made a graph today, showing our
school spirit colors!

Graphing is a wonderful tool for promoting basic math concepts, vocabulary and mathematical thinking...

We had 28 Blue squares and 6 yellow squares.
Which color had the most squares?
We had more Blue squares!

Hurray for PreSchool!

Welcome to PreSchool with Ms. Chiaia!

PreSchool Class 2016-2017

Welcome

We've joined together as classmates
as the new year begins...
A year full of learning,
While we become friends.
We'll share and be kind,
as we work and play.
And our friendships will grow
with each passing day!

In the PreSchool classroom, life is all about learning how to work with others. In the past few weeks, we have been encouraging teamwork, communication, collaboration, and cooperation. In the classroom we have been engaged in fun and inviting ways. We have read many books on teamwork, cooperation and friendship. In addition, a few activities we have been promoting are; building with blocks, working on floor puzzles, art activities and other fun games. Cooperative games help foster and encourage collaborative skills and teach sportsmanship as children play by helping each other. These games emphasis on fun and teamwork rather than resulting in a win. This group is amazing at “Talking it out!” They are learning to wait their turn, ask for help and try new things. Also, by using nice words and asking or making a plan with a friend usually results in a very positive conversation and a rewarding feeling. Great work PreSchool!
