Voting

November 2016

VOTING

Children may wonder what voting is all about or why the election is happening.  Preschoolers may not realize that they make many choices through-out the day.
When it comes time to make a group decision, voting gives everyone a fair chance to speak up, share their opinion and be heard.

PreSchoolers can vote!

They are learning about the world around them and who is in it.
This preschool voting activity taught them about the voting process,
that they each have an opinion and the vote stands.

Regular Milk Vs. Chocolate Milk
We voted on which milk we would have with our snack.
This choice of what we’ll have for milk affects them in a real way.

Our first voter!

We took turns voting behind the partition
to assure our votes would be private..

We encouraged privacy.
Voting is a special privilege and your opinion.
We also wanted the results to be a surprise.
It’s another way we can learn to take turns and respect our friends.

Casting a vote
Everyone placed their “X” next to the milk choice they liked best.
Then folded up their ballot and dropped it in the ballot box….

After the votes were all in,
we counted up the total number of votes for each of our choices.
In the end, the vote was unanimous for Chocolate Milk.
